San Diego Sigma Chi Alumni Lunch July 2012

For July, we welcome our guest speaker, John Spanos (Delta Nu, Wake Forest University, 2002) ALL Sigma Chi alumni are welcome no matter if you went to school on the east coast, west coast, in the Midwest or the South.

John coordinates the San Diego Chargers scouting efforts in preparation for the NFL Draft. He spent the 2003-05 seasons as a pro and college scout and 2006-07 seasons as assistant director of college scouting. He also assists in contracts and managing the salary cap.

Spanos first started working for the Chargers in 1995. While in high school, he worked summers as an assistant in the team's football operations office. From 1998-00 he worked under the direction of Ed McGuire, who schooled him in contract negotiations and managing the salary cap.

From 2001-03, Spanos served two stints in the NFL's Management Council office in New York, learning a wide range of league procedures, reviewing new player contracts and assisting in the League's salary cap reconciliation process.

In June 2010, in recognition of his achievement in Business and Community Leadership, Spanos was named one of the "Top 40 Under 40" Greek Americans by Greek America Magazine.

Spanos was born in Stockton, California. He attended The Bishop's School in La Jolla where he won three CIF Championships in football, basketball and golf. He became a member of ΣΧ Chapter at Wake Forest – Delta Nu. In 2002, he graduated from Wake Forest University with a degree in business.

2011 dues paid members $15
Non-dues paid members $20; Lunch & Dues $45
Dues are $30 and good through calendar year
