Alumni Lunch - August 2024 | Retired Army Colonel Mike Tucker

Please come to our San Diego Sigma Chi Alumni lunch on Friday August 9!

We’re proud to have guest speaker, retired Army Colonel Mike Tucker be with us.

Mike is a 4th generation San Diegan, now living in San Marcos with his wife and kids. In 2022 he was the Chief Game Warden at Camp Pendleton and commanded an Airborne Battalion. On September 17, 2022, his parachute malfunctioned during a military training jump at 1000 feet. He sustained significant injuries. He was helicoptered to UCSD’s trauma unit, spending 3 nights in the ICU, followed by many months of physical therapy. Mike retired due to his injuries.

Bouncing back, he is now a part-time environmental consultant and anthropology student. He has a novel archaeological theory about the famous Nazca Lines in Peru, based on his working as a biologist in the Mojave Desert, and from witnessing agricultural techniques in the high deserts of Afghanistan. For his thesis, Mike is studying the little-known geoglyphs near Calico, California, which may be analogous to the Nazca Lines in Peru.

Though not a brother Sigma Chi, Mike has embraced the Sigma Chi values of Courage, Wisdom and High Ambition to fuel his “Second Act” after his parachute accident.

ALL Sigma Chi alumni are welcome no matter if you went to school on the east coast, west coast, in the Midwest or the south. Spread the word and please pass this invitation along to any alumni who would like to come.
