Cal State San Bernadino Sigma Chi alumnus Breaks World Record in San Diego
John Chung (Iota Alpha,'94) is part of an Open Water Relay Team that just broke the World Record and will be getting out of the water at La Jolla Cove sometime Monday. As of 7pm Sunday they had 37 miles of their 202 mile trip.
It is hard to predict when exactly they will arrive due to currents, swimmer fatigue etc. But their average rate is 2.5 miles per hour which puts the finish sometime between 9am and 3pm.
John, his team and his supporters are asking San Diego Sigs to spread the word so they can have support from Sigma Chi as they get out of the water. For more specific info there are regular posts on their Facebook group "Ventura Deep Six Relay Team". http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ventura-Deep-Six-Relay-Team/155167181161816?v=wall or on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/venturadeepsix.
John is easy to spot as he is the shortest of the team. He is the only Sig on the team and we are trying to get a good presence of Sigma Chi's at the finish to show John how proud we are of him and his teams feat. They have a documentary film crew with them that is capturing the events as they unfold, including the finish.
