Prominent Federal Judge to Speak to San Diego Alumni Chapter
The San Diego Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter is pleased to announce our speaker for the November 2008 alumni lunch is Significant Sig Judge Clifford Wallace (Delta Xi, ‘52).
J. Clifford Wallace is a judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Formerly a district judge and a San Diego lawyer, Judge Wallace has held numerous positions as an officer of state and local bar associations and legal committees. Sworn in as a United States District Judge for the Southern District of California October 29, 1970; elevated to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit July 14, 1972, Chief Judge of the Ninth Circuit from February 1, 1991 to March 1, 1996, and took senior status April 8, 1996. He has taught at Brigham Young University, the University of San Diego and California Western School of Law. He is the author of more than a dozen law review essays and a study commissioned by the Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court on the future of the judiciary.
Judge Clifford Wallace was born 1928 in San Diego, California and is married with fifteen children and fifty-one grandchildren. Judge Wallace graduated from San Diego State University with honors in 1952, and graduated from the School of Law, University of California at Berkeley in 1955. Admitted to practice of law in 1955 he specialized in the trial of civil matters.
